So, you want to get ready for a Pipebanned Live Stream? For the very best online viewing experience, you’ll need:
- A fast internet connection
- Good speakers (or headphones)
- A way to plug your computer into your TV
The live stream will run usually over the course of the entire competition, concert or event. We send our live streams in multiple bitrates and resolutions – which includes a High Definition stream, as well as standard definition streams. This means even if you have a slow internet connection, you will see smooth sound and video. You will be able to watch this on your iPhone, iPad or Android Table and Android mobile phone (it will look amazing)… but to get the full effect, we really recommend connecting your computer to a big TV (perhaps with a HDMI cable, Chromecast or an Apple TV unit), and also trying to use really big speakers (like a surround sound system!). Then, you’ll really see detail in the video and have a much better listening experience than relying on tinny computer speakers.
You can test your download speed at www.speedtest.net. You’ll need a download speed of about 300 kbps or 0.3 mbps to watch the lowest quality stream without buffering, and about 3,000 kbps or 3mbps to watch the HD stream without buffering.
If you’re confused or something seems to be broken, send an email to me at firstname.lastname@example.org – I’ll try to help you out! Alternatively, get in touch with a younger (probably annoying) relative who is too smart for their own good, and ask for some help.
